Soutzoukákia is a fun-to-say name that means little soutzoúki or meatballs . They star in the classic dish that the Greeks call σουντζουκάκια σμυρνέικα (soutzoukákia smyrneíka) or Smyrna-style meatballs, what the Turks call İzmir köfte.
The meatballs are cooked in a rich tomato sauce flavoured with garlic, cumin and cinnamon, then usually served on pilaf.
