Ξúγαλο Σητείας
Soft white spreadable goat's milk cheese with a fresh tang to it from the Sitía region in Eastern Crete (if there isn't enough goat's milk available, they add sheep's milk). As with other Cretan cheeses, the animals are grazed on wild herbs, which lend the cheese its delicious flavour. PDO (ΠΟΠ) since 2011.
