Ζουμερό
A moist, rich chocolate cake from Chaniá, zoumeró is sometimes flavoured with the local oranges. After the chocolate cake comes out of the oven, it is doused in a butter, milk, cocoa and sugar syrup that oozes through to the bottom. Not to be missed if it's on the menu. A similar recipe is used to make the local take on brownies.
