A sweet Cypriot pastry flavoured with tahini paste that's usually vegan (hence popular during Lent). The classic form resembles cinnamon buns: a yeast dough, flavoured with mastic and mahlepi is filled with tahini and cinnamon, sweetened with carob syrup and baked. Sometimes they are flavoured instead with orange.
