μελεκούνι Ρόδου
A chewy sweet made with honey, toasted sesame seeds, rosewater and spices, with a whole almond in the centre of each piece, a bit like a deluxe pasteli.
Melekoúnia are made on Rhodes on the day before a wedding: the sesame seeds symbolize fertility, the honey the sweetness of love.
