alisfakiá

αλισφακιά

Sage, salvia

A very ancient Greek word for sage still used today (faskómilo is more common). Apparently it’s the only European language to use words predating the Latin salvia; phaskoven was found on Linear B tablets.

Αλισφακιά is also used for sage or mountain tea.
