savoury kolokothopita

Pumpkin pie, but nothing like other people’s pumpkin pie. The savoury version, made with or without phýllo, usually involves courgettes rather than pumpkin, cheese and onions. There are many versions.

The sweet version, κολοκυθόπιτα γλυκιά (kolokothópita glykiá) is made with (or without) phýllo and pumpkin, raisins, walnuts, cinnamon, sesame and cloves, depending on your preference.

On Sífnos, they make a version called λωλή (lolí) with grapes, oranges, honey, topped with sesame seeds and cut into squares.
