Or for a holiday, you might see πουτίγκα γιορτινή πολίτικη (poutíka yiortiní polítiki) because like many desserts it original hailed from Constantinople/Istanbul. It’s often served on name days, and is also known.
Poutínka sounds like pudding, but in Greece this is something special for special occasions, although one with many variations: a sponge cake with nuts, usually walnuts, or a semolina cake similar to reváni, moistened with a light syrup and topped with a thick layer of pastry cream, chopped walnuts and cinnamon.
It has other names as well: karydópasta me kréma (karydópasta me kréma),σπάτουλα Καλαμπάκας (spátoula Kalampákas), πάστα (pásta), μελαχρινή με κρέμα (melachriní me kréma) or just πολίτικο (politikó).
