torcolo

round cake

A kind of ciambella, made with flour, sugar, milk and yeast, often in a ring shape. Raisins, candied fruit and anise are added in the batter for the Torcolo di San Costanzo, made in Perugia on 29 January in honour of the city's patron saint.
