Anchovies caught at night in fine nets off the east coast of Sicily, in small boats in the Riserva Naturale Marina delle Isole Ciclopi, preserved in salt.

Other names include anciuvazzu and anciuvurineddu.

In Campania, similar night-fishing for anchovies is called pesca alici con la menaica
