mistrà

anise liqueur

Mistra is a town in the Peloponnese; the Venetians first brought Greek ouzo from there to Italy in the 17th century.

Varnelli makes one of the most popular brands of this firewater or anisetta, now distinctive to the Marche, although beware that it is something of an acquired taste!

Smilar to sambuca.
