fragolin

Fragolin was a traditional favourite of the Venetians, but thanks to fears surrounding the non-native uva fragola and the EU ban against selling the grapes (the reason was to prevent the output of inferior non-European varietal wines, and the fact that when fermented, uva fragola produce a high rate of methane if improperly fermented; also there is historic bad will as it was the import in the 19th century import of uva fragola that introduced the phylloxera louse that devastated European vineyards).

However, as the fragola grapes are still grown in Switzerland and an area in Austria. Venetians in the know go to certain bars that will sell fragolin to known customers.

There is a 'flavoured wine based drink' called Fragolino made in Piedmont; it has a strawberry taste, but lovers of the old fragolin say it's not the same.
