cornue

Easter brioche from the Limousin

cornuelle

You’ll find these in bakeries in the Limousin around Palm Sunday and Easter; some are sweet, some not. The cornue has three horns and was originally a pagan fertility symbol, transformed by the Church into a symbol of the Trinity.

It’s also known as a cornuelle in Périgord.
