Pouligny-Saint-Pierre

goat’s milk pyramid

Pouligny-saint-pierre (goats'-milk cheese)

Located in the centre of the Parc naturel régional de la Brenne, Pouligny-Saint-Pierre is so famous for its pyramid-shaped goat’s cheese that it has a giant model of one in the village’s main roundabout.

rond point cheese

Made from unpasteurized milk, with a textured white exterior, Pouligny-Saint-Pierre has a distinctive sour then mild salty taste. Some cheese are ripened longer and have a hint of blue and a stronger taste. Most of it is fermier (made in farm houses, with a green label); the dairy versions have a red label.
