Avèze

bitter booze from the Auvergne

Avèze

Made from wild gentiane roots plucked exclusively in the Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d’Auvergne, Avèze is a digestif that ranges from 15 to 23 proof. First made in 1929, it won a gold medal in 2019 in the New York International Medals competition, so there you go! They also make beer and syrups.

In Riom-ès-Montagnes, you can visit the Espace Avèze and learn all about it, and even ride a little heritage train, the Gentiane Express.
