Another name for kritharaki or orzo, or a simple stew made with the pasta, ground beef or lamb, onion, tomato paste, cinnamon and mint, and topped with grated cheese (the name comes from the Italian minestra).

On the Ionian islands, however, it is more like Italian minestrone, a thick vegetable soup, finished with avgolemono.
