Melitinía are sweet, flower-shaped cheese tartlets in a thin 'pinched' crust from Santoríni. The filling is made with anthotyros or myzíthra, sugar, flour, eggs, vanilla and flavoured with mastícha .
They were traditionally made for Easter, but in spite of their name, there is no meli in the recipe, although they are 'as sweet as honey.'
On Crete similar tartlets are called lichnarákia; on Anafi, they use semolino instead of flour and call them meliterà.
