Kalólimnos

Little island between Kalymnos and Turkey

Kalolimnos

Part of the municipailty of Kalymnos, steep rocky Kalólimnos is one of the little islands that occasionally Turkey tries to claim, which is why it has a big Greek flag painted on the side and a small military garrison who must really love their assignment. The pretty lighthouse was built by the French in 1864. It witnessed one of the many tragedies in the recent migrant crises, when four Syrian children died off its shores.
