Spinello Aretino

Life of St Bernard, at San Miniato

Spinello Aretino of Arezzo (late 14th century–1410) provided a link between and Giotto and the International Gothic style, producing imaginative and colourful compositions.

The main example of his work in Florence are scenes from the Life of St Bernard in San Miniato, frescoes in the Sacristy of Santa Croce and in the Oratorio di Santa Caterina delle Ruote in Ponte a Ema, in Santa Maria di Quinto in Sesto Fiorentino, and the Accademia.
