Soups in general, more popular in Greek winters than in summer. Many, like chortosoupa or vegetable soup, is similar to the vegetables soups made throughout the Med. But the Greeks also make some fairly unique soups, such as avgolémono and mageirítsa.

The classic is φασολάδα or bean soup,.

κρεατόσουπα (kreatósoupa) is beef and vegetable soup, possibly with trachanás.

σούπα με κόκκινες φακές (Soúpa me kókkines fakés) is coral lentil soup, a polítiki kouzína favourite.
