Palazzo Belloni Battagia

The palace with the obelisks

Palazzo Belloni Battagia

On the Grand Canal near the church of San Stae, this palazzo was designed in the mid 1600s by Longhena, who in spite of his sublime Santa Maria della Salute didn't always hit home runs. The obelisks in particular make it look just plain silly, as if he stuck them on because they were lying around his workshop.
